This Privacy Policy applies to the Kitchgrow mobile application, web application, public Kitchgrow pages, and related services. Some mobile data is stored locally on your device, while account-backed web features and connected services may involve trusted service providers by category.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Kitchgrow, formerly Reciplan, a smart meal planning, recipe, grocery, pantry, and creator workflow service developed by Amalthea Labs LLP (“we”, “our”, or “us”).
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, protect, and process information when you use the Kitchgrow mobile application, Kitchgrow web application, public Kitchgrow pages, and related Kitchgrow services collectively referred to as the “Service”.
For account, profile, Kitchen Passport, Kitchen Studio, recipe-submission, and related Service data, Amalthea Labs LLP is generally the data controller because we determine the purposes and means of processing that information.
Our goal is to maintain a privacy-focused experience while using only the minimum data reasonably necessary to provide, improve, secure, monetize, and support Kitchgrow.
By using Kitchgrow, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
Some mobile features can be used without creating a public profile, but web access and certain connected, creator, community, security, and account features may require an account or service identity.
Account, personal-profile, and Kitchen Studio information may include your email address, authentication identifier, display name, username, biography, Kitchen Location or region, profile photo, Kitchen name, Kitchen handle, Kitchen avatar, Kitchen cover image, public creator-profile fields, submitted recipes, moderation status, and community recipe activity.
Kitchen Passport and recipe-preference information may include optional dietary, allergen, cuisine, ingredient, animal-food, household, Kitchen Location, and planning preferences. These preferences are used to personalize meal planning, recipe filtering, Auto Plan, and related Kitchgrow features; we do not use Kitchen Passport dietary or allergen preferences for advertising targeting.
Profile photos, Kitchen avatars, and Kitchen cover images are used for account, creator, recipe, public Kitchen, and share-card features. We do not use these images for biometric identification or face recognition unless we clearly introduce and disclose such a feature in the future.
If you choose to sign in through an app-store, device, or identity-provider feature, that provider may process sign-in information under its own terms and privacy practices.
We do not intentionally collect phone contacts, precise GPS location, government identification numbers, payment-card numbers, or banking credentials through Kitchgrow.
2.2 Support & Communication Data
If you contact us for support, we may collect the email address you provide, support request content, device or browser information, app or web version, operating system version, and diagnostic information relevant to resolving the issue.
This information is used only for customer support, troubleshooting, and service improvement.
2.3 Analytics, Diagnostics & Performance Data
We use limited analytics, diagnostic, crash-reporting, and performance-monitoring technologies to improve service quality, reliability, safety, and user experience.
These technologies may collect pseudonymous information including app or web usage patterns, feature interactions, screen or session activity, device model, browser type where applicable, operating system version, app or web version, crash logs, performance diagnostics, ANR diagnostics, installation identifiers, and device, browser, or advertising identifiers where applicable.
Important Notes Regarding Analytics
- •This data is generally pseudonymous and is used to understand app behavior, not to directly identify you as a person.
- •Some identifiers such as app instance identifiers, installation identifiers, device identifiers, or advertising identifiers may be collected automatically by integrated service providers.
- •We use this data to improve stability, performance, user experience, security, monetization effectiveness, and product development.
- •We do not sell personal information directly to third parties.
- •We do not use analytics data for credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions.
2.4 Advertising, Rewarded Ads & Advertising ID Usage
The free mobile version of Kitchgrow may display advertisements, including rewarded advertisements that can unlock selected app experiences for a limited time. The web version may display ads only if ad-supported web features are enabled.
Advertising and monetization providers may process advertising identifiers, app or web interactions, device or browser information, approximate location inferred from IP address, diagnostic information, and ad performance information.
This information may be used for ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, abuse detection, ad measurement, attribution, rewarded-ad validation, monetization support, and ad personalization where permitted by law and your settings.
We do not use advertising identifiers to directly identify you by name.
2.5 Local and Account-Backed Kitchgrow Data
The Kitchgrow mobile app uses local-first storage for many core planning workflows. Meal plans, grocery lists, pantry items, saved recipes, cooking preferences, Kitchen Passport settings, planner templates, notification schedules, themes, and similar mobile app settings may be primarily stored on your device.
The Kitchgrow web app and selected connected features may store account-backed planner, shopping, pantry, profile, Kitchen Passport, cookbook interaction, and Kitchen Studio data in secure backend services so the Service can sync across sessions and devices.
We do not store local-only mobile data on our own servers unless a connected feature requires transmission or you choose to submit, sync, share, or contact us with that information.
2.6 Connected Recipe, Auto Plan & Content Services
Some Kitchgrow features connect to secure backend services to deliver protected recipe content, sync account-backed web data, review submitted recipes, maintain community statistics, validate access, publish public Kitchen pages, or generate Auto Plan suggestions.
For web and account-backed features, Kitchgrow may transmit and store planner meals, shopping list items, pantry selections, profile fields, Kitchen Passport preferences, cookbook interactions, public Kitchen profile fields, submitted recipe content, image references, moderation status, and related account identifiers needed to operate those features.
For Auto Plan, Kitchgrow may transmit the planning dates, available meal slots, selected planning mode, current plan context, eligible recipe identifiers and recipe metadata, Kitchen Passport preferences, dietary and allergen-related preference fields, entitlement or access status, app verification tokens, and pseudonymous user or service identifiers needed to process the request.
Auto Plan returns suggested recipe assignments. You remain responsible for reviewing and choosing whether to use those suggestions.
If you submit a recipe or profile image, the recipe content, image, submission agreement, profile fields, moderation metadata, and related account identifiers may be transmitted for review, publication, storage, abuse prevention, and service operation.
3. Mobile Device Permissions We Request
On mobile devices, Kitchgrow requests only permissions necessary for app functionality and monetization.
- ✓Notifications permission is used to send meal reminders, preparation alerts, and cooking notifications.
- ✓Exact alarms permission is used for precise reminder scheduling.
- ✓Boot completed permission is used to restore scheduled reminders after device restart.
- ✓Wake lock permission is used briefly to help scheduled reminders trigger reliably.
- ✓Camera and photo-library permissions are used only when you choose to take or select a recipe, profile, or submission image.
- ✓Internet access is required for connected content, Auto Plan, account features, support, analytics, diagnostics, ads, subscription validation, app updates, and web app operation.
- ✓Advertising ID access, where available, may be used by advertising, measurement, and monetization providers for ad serving, attribution, fraud prevention, analytics, and monetization support.
4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Kitchgrow may offer optional premium features and subscriptions, primarily through mobile app-store billing unless another supported purchase flow is introduced.
Mobile payments are securely handled through your device's native app store billing platform. We do not store or process credit card information, debit card information, banking details, or UPI credentials.
Web pages may show membership status, account status, or premium information, but Kitchgrow does not require you to enter payment-card details into the web app unless a separate supported purchase flow is clearly introduced.
We may use subscription infrastructure and entitlement management providers to verify access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and maintain subscription status across app sessions.
These providers may process pseudonymous app user IDs, purchase status, subscription identifiers, product identifiers, active entitlement status, transaction metadata, and limited device or app information.
5. Data Sharing & Third-Party Services
We do not sell personal information for money. Where privacy laws define certain advertising, measurement, or cross-context activity as “sharing” or “selling”, we provide applicable choices or honor applicable opt-out requirements where required by law.
We may disclose limited information to service providers and platform partners where necessary to operate, secure, monetize, and improve Kitchgrow, process purchases, deliver ads, validate rewarded ads, provide analytics and diagnostics, authenticate accounts, protect recipe content, review submissions, respond to support requests, comply with law, or complete an action you request.
These categories may include app stores and billing platforms, authentication providers, analytics and diagnostics providers, advertising and measurement providers, cloud hosting and content-delivery providers, subscription and entitlement providers, support and communication providers, and legal or compliance recipients where required.
These providers are expected to process information according to their own privacy notices, contractual obligations, platform rules, and applicable law.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, fraud prevention, security enforcement, or a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or transfer of business assets with appropriate protections.
6. Legal Bases for Processing
Where laws such as the EU or UK GDPR require a legal basis, we process personal information only when an appropriate legal basis applies.
We process account, sync, planning, Kitchen Passport, Kitchen Studio, recipe-submission, subscription, and support data when necessary to provide the Service or perform our agreement with you.
We process limited analytics, diagnostics, security, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, product-improvement, and service-reliability data based on our legitimate interests, balanced against your privacy rights.
We process advertising personalization, optional permissions, push notifications, and certain preference-based features based on consent where consent is required by applicable law or platform rules.
We process certain billing, tax, legal, compliance, security, and dispute-related records where necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect legal claims.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
You can delete your account in Kitchgrow where account deletion controls are available, including supported app settings, or request deletion without the app at https://amalthealabs.com/kitchgrow/delete-account.
Account deletion removes your account identity, personal profile, profile photo, unpublished recipe submissions, stored recipe interactions, account-backed sync records, and account-backed data such as planner, shopping, pantry, Kitchen Passport, cookbook interaction, Kitchen Studio, public Kitchen profile, and unpublished creator data, unless limited retention is required for the reasons stated below.
Recipes already published to the community catalog may be retained in unpublished, unlisted, de-identified, or service-owned form without your name, username, profile, or account identity where needed to preserve recipe integrity, moderation records, safety, or audit history.
Limited records may be retained where required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or resolving pending transactions.
You may permanently delete local-only mobile data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage in device settings. This removes local meal plans, grocery lists, preferences, pantry data, and planner settings stored only on that device.
Support communications may be retained only as long as necessary to resolve support issues, prevent abuse, or maintain records where legally required.
Analytics, diagnostics, advertising, security, and subscription records are retained according to configured retention periods, provider requirements, legal obligations, fraud-prevention needs, and platform rules, then deleted, aggregated, or de-identified where appropriate.
8. Children’s Privacy
Kitchgrow is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we become aware that information from a child has been collected unintentionally, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
9. User Controls & Choices
You may limit or control certain data collection through app settings, web account settings where available, account deletion controls, device privacy settings, Advertising ID reset, browser privacy controls, ad personalization settings, permission management, notification settings, and app-store subscription controls.
Where required for web features, we will honor legally recognized browser-based opt-out signals for sale or sharing of personal information when we can reasonably associate the signal with the applicable browser or user session.
You may disable permissions at the operating-system level, although some app features may stop working correctly.
Some limited diagnostic, security, fraud-prevention, purchase-validation, and service-operation data may still be collected where necessary for core functionality, legal compliance, or platform requirements.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. These include local-first mobile storage for core planning data, account-backed security controls for connected and web features, minimized collection, app and service verification, secure transmission where data is sent to connected services, restricted internal access, and industry-standard security practices.
However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
11. International Data Processing
Kitchgrow is operated from India and may use service providers that process data in India, the United States, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other countries where we or our service providers operate.
When personal information is transferred or processed outside your country, we use safeguards appropriate to the data and applicable law, such as data processing agreements, contractual privacy and security obligations, standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms where applicable, access controls, encryption in transit, and data minimization.
International processing is used only for purposes described in this Privacy Policy, such as hosting, content delivery, account sync, security, analytics, diagnostics, subscriptions, support, and service operation.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our services, technologies, legal requirements, or advertising practices.
Changes become effective when published within the app, website, or app-store listing. Continued use of Kitchgrow after updates means you accept the revised policy.

14. Regional Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and similar regions may have rights to access personal data, request correction or deletion, request data portability, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with a local data protection authority.
California residents may have rights to know or access the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, request deletion, request correction, opt out of sale or sharing where applicable, limit use or disclosure of sensitive personal information where applicable, and not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
Kitchgrow does not intentionally collect medical records, precise GPS location, government identification numbers, payment-card numbers, banking credentials, or biometric identifiers. Kitchen Passport and Kitchen Location preferences are optional user-provided planning preferences and are used to provide Kitchgrow features, not to make credit, employment, housing, insurance, medical, or legal decisions.
Most local-only mobile planning data can be removed by clearing app storage or uninstalling the app. Account-backed profile, planning, Kitchen Passport, cookbook interaction, and Kitchen Studio data can be deleted through available account controls or through https://amalthealabs.com/kitchgrow/delete-account.
To exercise privacy rights that cannot be completed directly in the app or web account controls, contact us at support@amalthealabs.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it, and some records may be retained where legally permitted or required for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, transaction completion, or legal compliance.
15. Legal Jurisdiction
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India.
